Are the seven colossi something else besides monsters? (Season 1 and 2 spoilers. Possibly future spoilers)

I have been curious for a while if they were more guardians of the world rather than monsters. Wethermon is the only real example at the moment. He was considered a hero of divinity, a poor soul, but never a monster by npcs. When he finally died, it said the world story progressed. The only real thing I could think happened was something like a seal that was released or what caused the doomsday took notice. Basically, killing the seven will cause another Armageddon and have them invaders come back. Another instant I can think of is when Sunraki talked to Setsuna, and she saw the marks on him and said in the (English dub) that Scooty left his mark on him. I didn't think of it then. It's, I guess, a pet name for Lycagon. Again, she didn't say that out of hate.

personally I don't know but think you have a good and interesting idea. I did some math when for the this and unless they can't do math i did 100/7 (100 for 100% of progress) and got 14ish leading me to think huh they maybe more cause then I did 100/8 giving 12.5% then I moved to 9 giving that 11% so I think there is definitely more to come as for what no clue

I don't rarely use social media. I started thinking they were guardians because when they mentioned Weathermon, they never treated him as a monster. He is more of a hero of the divinity that's still doing his job against the invaders. Setsuna mentioned Lycagon by a nickname as if she were a pet. Plus, that would place Lycagon around the time of the divinity. Since killing Weathermon pushed the world story and it's an MMO. The only logic to me would be bringing back the invaders.
