  • Indian Queen is an English Country Dance first published in Playford's Dancing Master of 1701. It was adapted by Cecil Sharp in 1922. It is a proper duple minor dance. Found in The Playford Ball.
The tune also called, "Indian Queen" was published by Playford with the dance. It was performed by Bare Necessities (Earl Gaddis, Mary Lea, Peter Barnes, and Jacqueline Schwab) on the album "A Playford Ball". It is used with permission of Country Dance Society, Boston Centre, Inc. www.cds-boston...
The animation plays at 109 counts per minute normally, but the first time through the set the dance is slowed down so people can learn the figures more readily. Men are drawn as rectangles, women as ellipses. Each couple is drawn in its own color, however the border of each dancer indicates what role they currently play so the border color will change each time through the minor set.
